Mens sana in corpore sano, 2013

Sport, particularly competitive sport, is a sign of the contemporary obsession with youth, competition, records all accompanied by the cult of the body, health, maximalisation and optimalisation, as well as sports icons and heroes, national and world. Media. Fame. Money.

And where in all this is a place for the old men and women, with their age? Publicly, almost nowhere, except in some anniversary recollections.

It is important to take part, not to… not to… not to…

Sorry, I forgot.

Siniša Labrović was born on February 12, 1965 in Sinj. He started his involvement in visual arts in 2001; in 2005 he put on the work Flock.org, in which sheep were the participants in a reality show. Of his performances, the following should perhaps be highlighted: Gloria (a gusle artist’s rendering of clippings from Gloria magazine), Penalising, Marking and Bandaging the Wounded, and the series Phrases and Pissing. His works are to be found in the collections of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Zagreb, the Gallery of Fine Arts in Split and the Museum of Modern Art in Dubrovnik.

At the 11th Istanbul Biennial in 2009 he presented the work Postgraduate education. He represented Croatia at the 13th Venice Biennale of Architecture together with the Pula Group, Hrvoslava Brkušić, Igor Bezinović and Boris Cvjetanović. He works, and occasionally lives as well.
